Cable: Homecoming

Cable: Homecoming

Cable # 21

From the moment Cable jumped into the time stream with the infant “mutant messiah,” he’s had only one goal: keep Hope alive until she can choose her own destiny. But now, stranded on a planet in its death throes, eating fried rat on a stick for the millionth time, Hope turns to Cable and tells him she’s ready to go home. Thus begins “Homecoming,” the penultimate chapter in the X-Men saga that began with “Messiah CompleX.” It’s not only zero hour for Cable and Hope, but also for the mutant hunting them, Lucas Bishop, who is rapidly running out of chances to save mutantkind and the world. Because if Hope does make it back to the present, everything changes for the X-Men. “Homecoming” begins in Cable # 21.

What If …?

What If…

What If?

Marvel’s What If? series is back, taking a new spin on some of the biggest comic story arcs of all time – Secret Invasion, World War Hulk, Astonishing X-Men, Daredevil Vs. Elektra and House of M.

What If? Secret Invasion
We all know how Secret Invasion ended with the Skrulls defeated and the death of the Wasp and the Skrull Queen. But what if it happened another way? Get ready to check out two widely different tales exploring that question. In the first story, scribes Kevin Grevioux (NEW WARRIORS, Underworld movies) and Karl Bollers (EMMA FROST) ask more questions: What if Reed Richards was killed before escaping from the Skrulls? Would our heroes still have won the day? Or would Earth embrace the Skrull way of life? In other words, “WHAT IF THE SKRULLS WON?” Illustrations by hot newcomer Pow Rodrix (Justice League America) with digital paints by Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic (TERROR INC.). The second story presents a twilight zone take on the question, “WHAT IF THE SECRET INVASION STAYED SECRET?” by newcomer Chris Acosta with art by Larry Stroman (X-FACTOR) and Carl Potts (Alien Legion). Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).

What If? Spider-Man: House Of M
Gwen Stacy meant everything to Peter Parker…and then she was gone, murdered by the Green Goblin. When the Scarlet Witch shifted reality in HOUSE OF M, Peter got to live the dream of marrying Gwen and raising a son…but soon that, too, was gone. But what would happen if Gwen didn’t vanish along with the rest of the HOUSE OF M? In other words, WHAT IF GWEN STACY SURVIVED THE HOUSE OF M? In the first feature, questions about what would happen between Gwen and Peter, between Peter and Mary Jane, and, indeed, what would happen to reality itself are answered as only Sean McKeever (Teen Titans) can. Joining him are Dave Ross (AVENGERS WEST COAST) with paints by Jorge Molina (X-MEN: MANIFEST DESTINY – NIGHTCRAWLER). Guest-starring THE NEW AVENGERS, DOCTOR STRANGE and VILLAINS GALORE! In the second feature, Peter Parker returns home from the House of M reality — but he’s not alone. Gwen and Richie have made the trip as well — along with something far more problematic. Far more sinister. And it will threaten to destroy not only himself and his loved ones, but everything Spider-Man stands for! “WHAT IF GWEN & RICHIE PARKER EXISTED OUTSIDE OF H.O.M.?” by Frank Tieri (EXCALIBUR) and Brian Haberlin (Spawn). Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).

What If? Daredevil Vs. Elektra
Daredevil. Elektra. Once upon a time they were star-crossed lovers, but then fate took a tragic twist leading them down wildly separate paths. He became Hell’s Kitchen’s blind seeker of justice while she became a servant to the Hand and their deadliest ninja assassin. But What If…events occurred differently? What If DD was inducted into their evil order in her place? WHAT IF DAREDEVIL DIED AND WAS RESURRECTED BY THE HAND? If that question provides you a gnat’s whisker of intrigue, then you definitely won’t want to miss this What If special based on the seminal early 80s Daredevil run by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson! By Karl Bollers (WOLVERINE: HUNGER) and Rafael Kayanan (Conan The Barbarian). Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).

What If? World War Hulk
Erupting out of what could have been in the pages of World War Hulk, a double trouble of stories! Writer Mike Raicht (EXILES ANNUAL) and artist Lucio Parrillo (Red Sonja) illustrate the Hulk’s war against the Illuminati and the resulting disaster that leaves Earth without its mightiest heroes. Who could possibly benefit from such a catastrophe? We’ll give you a hint, it’s not the Hulk… but they’re green, too. WHAT IF THE HEROES LOST WORLD WAR HULK? In the second feature, a vengeful Hulk and his Warbound began routing Earth’s super heroes, confident no one could stop him from dispensing his gladiatorial brand of justice. But in this alternate telling of the story, the recently returned God of Thunder hammers out a different conclusion in “WHAT IF THOR PARTICIPATED IN WORLD WAR HULK? by Michael Gallagher (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) and SPAZ! (MUTIES). Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).

What If? Astonishing X-MenFrom the pages of Joss Whedon and John Cassaday’s classic Astonishing X-Men run, see two titanic tales unfold: In the first, what if Ord from Breakworld brought Jean Grey back from the dead instead of Colossus? What happens when she’s reunited with the X-Men? And Emma? And how will this change affect the entire galaxy? A story of life, death, love and loss resulting in one word that strikes fear into all: Phoenix! “WHAT IF JEAN GREY WAS RESURRECTED INSTEAD OF COLOSSUS?” by Jim McCann (NEW AVENGERS: THE REUNION) and David Yardin (X-MEN ORIGINS: GAMBIT). In the second, when the artificial being known as Danger is out to destroy Xavier and his X-Men, someone else picks up her signal. Someone deadly they’ve never faced before… someone who’s ready to fall in love with the mutated Danger Room! “WHAT IF DANGER BECAME ULTRON’S BRIDE?” Written by Matteo Casali with incredible art by Mike Getty! Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).
